FIP Facilitator Name: Jeremy Ward
School/District: Franklin Junior High School
When did you begin working on formative instructional practices?
We began working on FIP last year as a building.
How did you get started?
Our team attended FIP training to evaluate if it would be a good fit for our school.
Share an "I used to think... but now I think..." moment you've had when learning about or implementing FIP.
I used to be hesitant, thinking that it would be more work for teachers, but now I know that FIP is bringing everything that we are doing together.
What have been your biggest challenges in advancing the use of FIP?
Teachers need to understand how resourceful and useful FIP is. We have to fight the thought-process that FIP isn't just 'another thing' to do.
What successes have you seen in implementation so far?
The "I Can" statements are being implemented and students are understanding what they are learning.
What impact do you see FIP having in your school/district?
There is a significant impact being made as we progress and continue to tie the great things that our teachers and leaders are doing together.
What advice do you have for other FIP Facilitators or educators getting started with formative instructional practices?
Take your time, be consistent, and remain intentional.
